Our story

A dream caught ablaze.

Neighboring roughly 8,000 acres of state land and an abundance of Michigan's beautiful lakes, you'll find 30 acres of woodlands where you can breathe easy in nature — somewhere to embrace your truest, most sincere self and let your spirit feel renewed and inspired.

What started as just a dream — one family's idea of a new life purpose — became Moss 'n Mushrooms. The Hampton's made their move in 2019 across the great state of Michigan, from Metro Detroit to Mecosta, ready to embrace rural living and build their homestead, hoping for more quality time as a family and a deeper connection to nature.

The Hampton's homestead is built around the love and respect of nature and our community. We strive to make visitors feel at home — one with themselves and with nature. You'll be embraced and celebrated for your unique spirit, leaving you free and inspired.

The name was inspired by the seemingly simple, albeit magical, gifts of nature: the moss and mushrooms that the autumn season brings, the stars that sparkle in the warm summer sky, and the grounding energy among the great beech trees.
